Tempranillo is the main grape in Spanish Rioja wines.  This big, red grape has grown well in the Haw River Valley, breaking bud late to avoid spring frosts and having an early harvest date that avoids a large block of the hurricane season. The Grove Tempranillo always sells out quickly. Estate grown.

• The 2009 Estate Tempranillo medaled at both the 2011 and 2010 NC Wine State Competitions
• The 2008 Estate Tempranillo took a silver medal at the 2010 NC State Wine Competition and medaled at the 2009 Mid-Atlantic Wine Competition
• The 2007 Estate Tempranillo took a gold medal at the Wines of the South Competition
• The 2006 Estate Tempranillo took a gold medal at the Mid-Atlantic Wine Compeition
