Carménère is medium-bodied red wine that originated in Bordeaux, France and is the primary grape in the famous Médoc wines. The grape is now grown widely in South America, but also grows well in the Piedmont of North Carolina.

Grove Winery produces a Carménère that features spicy, earthy notes. Pork is a perfect food pairing.

  • The 2017 Grove Carménère was awarded the Silver medal at the 2018 NC Wine Competition.
  • The 2015 Grove Carménère was awarded Silver medals at the 2017 NC Wine Competition and the Beverage Tasting Institute and 87 points from Tastings.
  • The 2011 Grove Carménère won a gold medal in the 2012 NC State Wine Competition and a silver medal in the 2012 Mid-Atlantic Southeastern Wine Competition
  • Previous vintages took a silver medal in the 2011 NC State Wine Competition and a silver medal at the 2005 North Carolina State Wine Competition.
