Our estate vineyards have a long history of growing award winning Chardonnay. Early season grapes like Chardonnay did very well in 2010 where optimal weather let us get extra hang time allowing for higher sugars and flavors while still yielding a touch of acid. This is an unoaked French Chablis-style expression of Chardonnay.
- The 2010 vintage medaled in the 2011 North Carolina State Wine Competition.
- Previous vintages were a Gold Medal winner in the 2009 NC State Wine Competition, Silver Medal Winner in the the 2005 Mid-Atlantic Wine Competition and Medal winner in the 2006 Mid-Atlantic Wine Competition.
The 2010 unoaked, estate Chardonnay was harvested on 8/24/10 with a brix of 21 and pH of 3.64. The wine was bottled on 8/1/2011. Production was 147 cases.
Will go well with fish, vegetables, any lighter fare that should not be overpowered.
